Synopsis
Mobile technologies can be found in the hands of most people, including children; teachers need to use this to their advantage. In a 2013 study conducted by Pew Research Center's Internet and American Life Project, 78% of high school aged students had their own cell phone, 47% of those owned smartphones. In fact most have their cell phones on their person 24/7. Typically, elementary and secondary schools have seen these mobile devices as a distraction, something that takes the students' attention away from learning. Schools have even created policies that prohibit their use during school hours. What if teachers could do the opposite, and use these mobile technologies to increase student participation and engagement?
